A near death experience

Okay, maybe that's putting things a bit TOO dramatically, but anyhow this relates to something that happened to me last weekend. Me and Sheryl had gone to eat pan mee at our favourite pan mee shop in USJ, Subang. After waiting about 45 minutes for our food, it finally arrived and i started gulping down my food (you know how fast i eat right). And in pan mee, they normally have sayur manis inside. Well, there was a bit of stalk in there too, which i just gulped down as well, but unfortuately it just WOULDNT go down my throat, no matter how hard i kept on swallowing. IT WAS STUCK!! and i started to panic, gulping down even harder. I had already finished my drink earlier, so i didnt have any water to wash it down with, not that it would have helped lah, since swallowing like crazy didnt get it down. Then suddenly, i half coughed and vomited it up. YEWWWWW.. but i was sooooo relieved. I had honestly thought i was going to choke.

Guillotin

So during my shopping trip to Tenjin Chikagai, i went into a shop to try on some clothes. As i went into the changing room, the sales girl hands me a little bit of cloth. I ask her what am i to do with this? I was communicating to her mostly in broken English and sign language. So she signaled something over her head, which i guess meant that it was to go over my head. Hmmmm so i just smiled and said ok. Hahahha.. here's what i look like. I later found out that it's to protect your make-up when you try on the clothes. Especially ones that go over your head. Hahahaha.. Japanese girls are sooo vain. I cant believe they even came up with this!!!. Looks like im going to be beheaded!

My shopping trip to Tenjin Chikagai

Lovely kimonos...

But just check out the price. Thats over RM6000!!!!

What i had for lunch. Tonkatze. I quite like this dish. The meat and prawns are fried in batter, eaten with a sweet sour sauce and rice and cabage salad.

I simply cant finish the cabbage salad. It way too much!!!

A Hello Kitty shop. Yuccch..

Talk, talk, talk...

(Me trying out various hats. Oli was quite malu to take pics of me in the hats that i wasnt going to buy)

Japanese people like to talk a lot. When at the grocers, the cashier will talk, talk, talk, mentioning every item you buy. After you pay her, she talks again, and they dont say thank you once, but twice or even trice!!! 'Arigato Gozhaimas', then when you reply 'Arigato Gozhaimas', they respond 'Arigato Gozhaimas' and again for good measure. And when they give you back your change, they count out the money in front of you, saying donno what else lah, i dont understand.

In the pharmacy just now ( i was looking for an ankle guard), the shop assistants were shouting out words continously. I dont think they were greeting those who came into the shop, but were simply shouting things out!!

I went to Town (Tenjin) just now by myself...while Sophie was at school.. Oli took me to the subway and told me how to get htere. It was rather simple, so got there sans any hitches. However once i came outa the subway i got kinda lost. Was supposed to walk along the long underground shopping area, where things are reportedly cheaper than in the malls, but somehow i missed turning and went above ground instead. Wandered aimlessly for a while before calling Olivia... Learnt where i went wrong and retraced my steps. Found the turning and walked for a bit before my foot started giving me problems. Had hurt it a few weeks ago and it has yet to heal completely. If i do a lot of walking and put pressure on my right foot, it starts to hurt. And today it hurt soooo much, had pains shooting up my foot. So much so that i had to limp. Not very becoming i tell you. So i found the nearest place to have my lunch (which wasnt very cheap - i later found out) but couldnt really help it as i neeeeeeded to rest and sit down. After lunch got up but my foot was no better. Had to cut short my window shopping (after buying one top that is =)) and got back on the subway home. I thought maybe i can browse around Nishijin for a bit before walking back home, but my foot hurt too much. So i limped back home (pooorrr meee..=()

Little Emma

Little Emma has arrived! She is teensy and soooo cute as you can see in the picture. She has just arrived home. She sleeps sooo much. Was just telling Olivia that she's probably stocking up on sleep for all those sleepness nights ahead!! hahahahha...Dont think Oli was that thrilled to hear that..=P Enjoy the pictures!!

The land of the rising sun.

Its day 6 for me here in Fukuoka. So far so good. The weather is nice. Not too cold and not too hot. Sun shines everyday but its about 22 degrees on average. The Japanese are pretty friendly, except the older generation. They tend to frown a lot and arent very tolerant.. especially of kids ...noisy active ones like Sophie!! =P

Some interesting things ive noticed about Japan.

1. A song plays when the lights go green for pedestrians to cross the road.

2. The taxi drivers can open the back doors from the front, so we dont have to open the doors by ourselves.

3. I DONT LIKE MISO SOUP and they serve it with EVERYTHING!!!

4. The japs bundle up even when its not so cold!!! Here i am wearing a normal top, 3 quarter pants and sandles, and they are wearing a few layers of clothes and boots and scarve and gloves and hat!! ???? Huh???

So far these past few days have consisted of visiting Oli and Emma at least once a day. The rest of the time is playing blanket, shapes, ball, puzzle, and reading to Sophie woo...Hopefully Oli and Emma can come home soon!!!

The fuss about my hair

TV3 has asked me to cut my hair as its way too long. Apparently 'the boss' was at my mockrun yesterday and he said that my hair was so long and messy (the makeup artist curled it which made it look nice i thought, but it looked a bit sufocating) And he was doubtful about my look, (coz she didnt backcomb my hair either so it looked very flat from far), but Trianna quickly told him i was going to cut it. So that was the issue lah. So before my next mock run next week, I have to cut my hair. Sigh... im so not used to having short hair. Well, it doesnt have to be short lah, but medium length, around 2 inches below my shoulder. Also was wondering if i should cut my fringe as it would give me more volume. Hmm.. should i get bangs again? Apparently TV3 is very fussy about how your hair is, the look etc.

Soooo... ive been digging up pictures to see how im gonna cut my hair. Here are a few ive come up with. Do comment, and contribute any ideas you may have, together with pictures preferably..=)

I think the second picture is the safest dont you? The rest looks nice but maybe a bit short??

Home

This is the dining table that me and Sheryl (I will call her S from now on as a short form) bought from Cavenzi. Its this really cheap furniture shop that sells quite modern pieces. Its not the best of quality, but then with just 2 of us using it i dont think that really matters. Plus it only cost 169 ringgit add 60 bucks for delivery, and then divide it in 2 between the both of us. So now we dont have to sit on the flood and eat on the tiny table anymore. =) By the way, that's S in the background of the second pic. I took the photo without her knowledge. Hahaha

ANNOYED!!!

Yup, that's what i am. I arrived home from work at about 11.30pm today. Its Thursday night and I stayed back at work to record my weekend show on Mix, coz if i leave it to Friday morning, its really hard to get an empty studio, not to mention we're in the middle of survey period, so all the DJ's would have booked the studios in the morning adi. No chance for me to get an empty one. So yeah, after work i sauntered into an empty studio and was about to start my work when one DJ, a friend, strolls in and calmly says he has booked the studio till 10. He always pulls my leg so i thought he was pulling my leg lah, coz normally no one uses the studios on Thursday nite. So i went 'Haha, good joke' and went back to my work and he said, no seriously, its been booked till 10. Turns out it wasnt for HIM, but ANOTHER DJ but he just kaypo come and tell me. Arrrggghhh.. i was SOOOOO annoyed.. i mean i need to do my work too!! I just didnt bother booking the studio on a Thursday coz its not normally used. So i went out really really annoyed and had to start recording in the tiny studios in the infocentre which is really annoying as I cant have the internet in there as there's only ONE computer, as opposed to 3 in the other bigger studios. I hang around a bit until another DJ in the other recording studio comes out so i bag that and start recording. Halfway, a weekend jock comes in and plonks down his stuff... and says 'did you book the studio?' and im like' No' ..'Did you?' and he says yup i booked it from 8 to 12 midnight. GREAT!!! just great. So im like fine fine you have it. And i walk out. Ends up i have no choice but to record in the tiny studio in the infocentre after all.. AARRRRGGGHHHH.. So coz of all the delays, i get back at 11 plus. And i still havent finished. Have left some to do tomorrow. Where and how im gonna record i have no idea. Isssshhhhh...

Anyway, let me move on to lighter and more brighter things!
My TV3 auditions seem to be going well. Ive got to go for another one on Sunday. All in all i think ive gone for about 3 so far. Trianna, the person in charge, wants me to go for one more before deciding if they will take me or not. Please pray that they will, and that my side will not object to me doing a part time job, especially with a rival broadcasting company. =)

Back to more sombre things, Ive been put in the morning shift PERMANENTLY starting next week. AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT. Will have a non-existent night life after this.. SIGH SIGH SIGH.....

Another photo

The pic at the top was after having makeup lesson with sheryl the night before. This one above was after my first solo emceeing job. EXHAUSTED!!

Photos..

The dress that Blook sponsored me for the emceeing the fashion show.

Balakong

Balakong is this place in Selangor. Its near bukit jalil. There's a big jusco there that i go to sometimes. Heheh..

Im soooo sleepy although its only 9.40pm. Im reseaching things for the hateful Smart Money capsule. I did get some good news today though. My boss is no longer checking my work. He's gonna be checking sue's getaway script, coz some travel agency decided to sponsor it and they've been very very fussy. So he's now in charge of that and he gave azhar the responsibility of checking my scripts. Im very relieved as its so much nicer to work under azhar!!!

Going for the preview of sex and the city on Wednesday. There;s a pre party before that too, and we're supposed to dress up! Not so keen on that part though, as im going straight from work, and dont wanna go to work dressed up! People SUUUUREEE make comments one. But dont have a choice though. Will try to get a look that's in between. The party is organised by Mix, that's why ive got tickets. =)

Alrighty, going to go back to writing my SMART MONEY capsule. SIGH

Eventful weekend!!

I think no once checks my blog anymore... hehehe.. but i've only myself to blame as i dont update it often enough. Just went thru E's blog to see what ive missed. Loved the poems E. Think you should write more and get them published. For SURE the one you wrote for mum can be published. Can earn big bucks you know.

Well im writing about this particular weekend. It was eventful and im so so tired. On saturday i had an emcee'ing job at a shop in bangsar. This is the shop of one of my church members. I dont really know her, but she approached me to emcee for a fashion show she's having at her shop. So i jumped at the opportunity. Her budget wasnt big lah.. but i figured it was a start. Its good for me anyway to get some exposure. So i decided to take the job. I didnt feel nervous or anything lah.. but its been on my mind for days before it actually took place. So on the saturday, i got up early, went to eat pan mee with my housemate Sheryl, came back, took a shower, went to a hairdressers in SS2 called Crimpers to get my hair done. paid for it myself, wasnt sponsored by my friend. Had this picture i wanted her to do my hair up like. This shop is actually quite pricey one lah.. but i thought they would do a good job. WRONG!! Didnt really turn out what i wanted it. but it was okaaaayyyy lah.. Prob is got it curled at the ends. But by the time i reached bangsar, the curls were almost undone. Only got curls right at the bottom. So had to keep on twisting my hair with my fingers. Got to bangsar half and hour late coz the hairdresser took so long, went to see Adeline, the programe coordinator, who went to blook to get me a dress. Oh by the way they sponsored my dress though. at least lah. And i asked for it.. After i asked if they were providing me with an outfit i actually felt quite bad coz i thought maybe i was a bit pushy. But then, i found out later that they decided to sponsor the performer as well, who was singing. So then i didnt feel so bad lah. So they gave me this tube blue dress to wear, not bad lah. After that i had to do my makeup (by myself) - the night before i had asked Sheryl ( my housemate) how to do my eye makeup as she;s very good. She used to be an air stewardess with MAS, so she quite good with makeup. So got my make up done, Not bad actually if i do say so myself. Realised it was almost time to start adi, panicked and rushed to the shop. (i was doing my makeup in the other shop with the clothes. The fahsion show was in her other shop which sells accessories, bags and shoes only)

Aiyo i tired telling the story adi, so lazy to type...

Anyway.. the show went on alright lah.. managed to crack a few jokes.. that ppl laughed to. =) I cant have done that bad lah.. coz a few ppl asked for my name card for future events.. hehehe/./ so was quite pleased..or maybe its just having good looks and a good voice???? hehhehe

The event only finished about 6, after i did some shopping at the store. Hehehe...they were having 1 day sale mah. Got 2 belts that i was lookign for to go with a dress i had for some time. And a yellow bead necklace, and a pair of flat golden shoes.

Came back home exhausted, then went for dinner with Sheryl and her boyfriend. had low shi fun and pork ribs and vege. YUMMMYYY. He paid . Hehehe

SUNDAY

Woke up early for church. Went to pick up pop first, then went to church. Got there late, coz forgot that i had to go to the bank first to withdraw money to pay my tithe. After church i went for lunch with pop, then sent him back. Then went back to church pulak, coz i had shoot for cva (the church announcements that we record on video) Finished about 4pm, then rushed to balakong to see amanda for tea,. Was late so had to take the extra toll way. Sigh... then after that went out with a collague for dinner, came back and here i am blogging about my extremely exhausting weekend. However i like being busy like this once in a while. Reminds me of when i was in Kyrgyzstan, and how i used to be constantly busy onthe weekends, with church, music practice, meeting people. Fun... but if it happens too often then it can get tiring lah.

OKay.. im gonna call it a day. Hope yall read my blog ya!!!

More on Bangkok!

This pic was taken in front of 'Siam Niramit' - a world famous theater show which basically about Thailand, the different parts of the country and its influences. For example, the south part was clearly influenced by Malaysia as the cast were wearing nyonya kebayas. The show was simply fabulous, and the set was the most amazing ever! moving houses and boats, and there was even a stream that opened up on the stage in the middle and one of the cast actually jumped in and took a bath! So hard to explain but it was wonderful. Even had live animals in the show - elephants, chickens, goats. If you go to Thailand i recommend going to Siam Niramit - definitely!!
The pic above was with some of the cast members. We werent allowed to bring our cameras in for the show but we could take pictures of the cast after the show outside.
